Perfect Health Mela this year to focus on Fitness, Food & Hygiene

New Delhi: The countdown for Health Maha Kumbh named Perfect Health Mela has begun. This time’s Health Mela is unique and certainly will go a long way in infusing fitness spirit in Delhiwalas. The attractions are galore to make ecosystem happy as happiness is regarded as the most crucial component of Health.

The 26th Perfect Health Mela 2019, a leading health and wellness fair organized by leading National NGO – Heart Care Foundation of India (HCFI) will be inaugurated on 18th October 2019. The event will run for 3 days until the 20th October 2019 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi. The event is co-organized in association with departments of Delhi and Central Government and the World Health Organization. The theme of the Mela this year is “Fit Delhi, Fit India.”

Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal and Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State – Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports have been invited to inaugurate the event. Other dignitaries who will be present include Mr Satyendra Jain, Health Minister, Government of NCT, Radhey Shyam Julaniya Secretary Sports, GOI, and Mr Vijay Singh Dev, Chief Secretary, Delhi Government.

As a pre-run to the Perfect Health Mela, various health education activities will be held on the 16th and 17th October 2019 at the Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Ambedkar Nagar. These will focus on the importance of hand washing as well as various other hygienic practices that are important to ensure good health in teenagers.
Speaking about this, Padma Shri Awardee, Dr K K Aggarwal, President, HCFI and President, CMAAO, said, ‘The importance of hand washing cannot be underscored. It is one of the most effective ways to ward off diseases (both communicable and non-communicable) and prevent antibiotic resistance. The Perfect Health Mela will focus on these aspects this year and promises to be educative and entertaining at the same time.”

The Perfect Health Mela’s partners this year include restaurant chain Imperfecto, personal and fabric hygiene brand Fena and Ansals University (educational partner), LIC and Coke. New attractions this year include a cyclothon on the 19th October and a science and laughter show on the inaugural day. These will be organized in association with Creative Thinkers and Laughter Yoga International. A dance and cultural evening with renowned singer Shibani Kashyap will be followed by a Dandia night with Lok Utsav and a Dance Talent Hunt will also be organized.

Speaking on the occassion, Mr. Ashok Rana, DGHS, said, “Events like the Perfect Health Mela have an important role to play in educating the public on aspects of health, hygiene, and fitness. I congratulate the HCFI for organizing the event successfully year after year and making people aware of the importance of a healthy lifestyle in an engaging manner.”
Dr Ramesh Kumar, MOH NDMC, said, “We are happy to support the HCFI in such a large-scale infotainment-based health event. The Perfect Health Mela is a perfect example of combining education with awareness and events like these are definitely the need of the hour.”

In his message, Mr Sandeep Pradhan, DG Sports authority of India, said, “The Government of India launched the Fit India movement this year and thus, the theme of the Perfect Health Mela is very relevant. Not only is it important to be fit but also educate others on the need to ensure optimum fitness levels. This can go a long way in reducing the burden of diseases in the country.”

The Perfect Health Mela celebrated its Silver Jubilee last year and promises to be bigger and better this time. All visitors will be given deworming tablet and Vitamin D sachet and adolescent girls will be given a sanitary napkin. There will be a live demo of Mohalla clinic by the Government of Delhi. Effective ways to prevent pollution effects on the body including the use of nasal saline drops will be demonstrated.

Started in 1993, the Perfect Health Mela caters to people from all age groups and all walks of life. It showcases activities across categories such as health education seminars, check-ups, entertainment programmes, lifestyle exhibitions, lectures, workshops, and competitions. The Mela is attended by over 200 organizations each year including those from the state and central government, PSUs, and leading corporates.
Others present at the occasion included Shri Anil Ahuja, Shri Vivek Kumar and Shri Saurabh Aggarwal, Directors, Heart Care Foundation of India.
