Manipal Dwarka can now boast of Best-in-Class Paediatric Emergency Services

New Delhi: After carving a niche in providing world-class specialty services to the residents of Delhi with its Centres of Excellence, HCMCT Manipal Hospitals Dwarka has now announced the start of dedicated Paediatric Emergency Services under the Department of Paediatrics. The new service would manage paediatric emergencies and offer multispecialty care to paediatric patients.

The department provides round the clock availability of a trained in house paediatrician, capable of handling all types of paediatric emergencies, including paediatric trauma. Moreover, these emergencies are supported by well equipped, tertiary level paediatric & neonatal intensive care units.

As the standard of care, patient management is supported by senior consultants, especially for paediatric & neonatal intensive care admissions. Paediatric ER services also include paediatric & neonatal transports as and when it is required.

The Department of Paediatrics has been one of our Centres of Excellence, manned by a dedicated team of paediatricians, paediatric intensivists, paediatric surgeon, neonatologists and emergency medicine doctors, neonatal intensive care services. Besides this, the department also has paediatric subspecialists including Paediatric Cardiologist, Paediatric Surgeon including Neurosurgeon, Paediatric Gastroenterologist & Paediatric Orthopaedics,” said Dr Vikaj Taneja, HOD, Paediatrics, Manipal Hospitals.

Paediatric trauma is a major concern which requires immediate medical and surgical interventions. The new service would provide multispecialty care of paediatric trauma patients. Hence, victim of falls, road traffic accidents, minor burns, electrocution, traumatic brain injury would get world-class care immediately. The department offers neurosurgery, paediatric surgery, paediatric orthopaedics, plastic surgery and ICU care for them.

The Emergency Service also manages common neonatal emergencies such as apnoea, breathing difficulty, seizures, severe infections, jaundice and offers emergency bedside USG/ ECHO for assessment in case of paediatric trauma. All paediatric emergency services are backed up by well equipped, tertiary level paediatric & neonatal intensive care units.
