MOREH : In another major haul of contraband drugs, 56.255 Kgs of WY tablets which are worth more than ₹ 25 crore in international market were seized from Moreh yesterday.
A combined team of 5th Assam Rifles and Moreh police was on routine patrol duty in and around Moreh town last night.
As the combined team which included women security personnel reached Phaicham Veng, Ward No 3, one individual was seen moving in a suspicious manner and the next movement, he went inside a house.
The security team immediately rushed to the particular house and enquired the individual about his suspicious movement.
Although the man was confused to give any reply, he tried to escape through the back door but the security team chased and nabbed him.
The combined team found one plastic sack containing suspected WY tablets near his bed.
Then the man was asked to open the locked cupboard. Initially he refused to open the cupboard saying that there was nothing inside but later, the man opened the cupboard and a huge quantity of WY tablets packed in 72 packets of varying sizes were found inside the cupboard.
The 72 packets of WY tablets were found wrapped in two plastic sacks (yellow) and three polythene bags (black).
Subsequently, the man identified as Lenzo Lenchinjang Zou alias Philips (29) s/o Longlenhao Zou of Moreh Ward No 2, presently staying in a rented house at Phaicham Veng, Ward No 3 was arrested at around 10.20 pm. The huge quantity of WY tablets found inside his house was also seized.
He has been handed over to Moreh police station with the seized WY tablets whose value in the international market is estimated to be ₹ 25,31,47,500.
