2.60 Lakh Yaba Tablets Worth Rs 70 Crore Recovered In Cachar

Cachar: Assam Police and the Border Security Force (BSF), in a joint operation, have seized 2.60 lakh Yaba tablets worth Rs 70 crore in Cachar district.

In an official statement, the Assam Police on Friday said that based on secret information, Cachar district police along with BSF on Thursday night conducted a special operation against the transportation of narcotic substances at Katakhal area, Silchar and intercepted one vehicle.

Numal Mahatta, Superintendent of Police of Cachar district said that during the search, the police team recovered twenty-six packets containing 2.60 lakh Yaba tablets from specially made secret chambers of the vehicle.

“The market price of the narcotics substance in the black market is about Rs 70 crore. The consignment of the narcotics substance is illegally transported from the Champai district of Mizoram. Two people fled away. Search operation continues,” Numal Mahatta said.

Further investigation is underway.
