Indore: Five industries have intended to invest a total of Rs 176 crore in the Medical Devices Park in Ujjain and demanded around 26 acre in the park from the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC).
The proposals submitted by these five industries claim to generate employment opportunities for close to 687 people.
Medqverse Private Ltd plans to invest Rs 100 crore to establish a unit for radiotherapy cancer treatment devices which is expected to create job opportunities for 300 individuals, showed official data from MPIDC.
Technoplast Packaging Pvt Ltd has proposed an investment of Rs 62 crore to manufacture blood collection systems and insulin syringes with the aim of generating 60 employment opportunities.
Rajesh Rathod, executive director, MPIDC said, “The investments will not only create job opportunities but also enhance the healthcare industry in the state. With the establishment of these units, the availability of advanced medical devices and treatments will improve, benefiting the residents of the region. These proposals come as a positive sign for the growth of the healthcare sector in Ujjain, and the government is actively supporting such initiatives.”
Bansi Surgical Solutions plans to invest Rs 1.47 crore in setting up an ENT workstation with the potential to employ 27 people. Dksortho and Medical Device Pvt intend to invest Rs 5 crore in establishing a unit for orthopaedic implants which could create 100 jobs.
According to MPIDC, Remote Healthcare Technologies Pvt Ltd. has intended to invest Rs 8 crore and proposed to generate employment for 200 people.
The estimated size of the medical technology industry in India is around $11billion, according to the Medical Technology Association of India (MTaI), an association of research-based medical technology companies.
More than 80 per cent of medical devices used in the critical care unit and major ones are imported, according to the association.
