7 Year Old Child Died After Being Given Injection In Bundi

Bundi: A child died after being given an injection in a private clinic in Bundi, Rajasthan. After the child’s death, the family created a ruckus outside the private clinic and lodged a complaint against the doctor in the police station. The doctor said that the family did not tell him about the child’s allergy earlier or else he would not have given the antibiotic injection. The police are investigating the matter.

A seven-year-old child died after being given an antibiotic injection at a private clinic in Bundi, Rajasthan. Regarding the incident, the police said that the child died after taking an antibiotic injection at a private clinic run by a retired pediatrician.

The family of the deceased child outside the clinic accused the doctor of giving the wrong medicine. Howevwe the doctor insisted that the boy died due to a previous allergy, which was not disclosed by his mother.

According to a news agency report, 7-year-old Kunj Meena of Kanaheda village was brought to a private doctor’s clinic in Bundi on Thursday afternoon complaining of fever, cough and cold.Pediatrician Dr KC Gagrani said that he gave a prescription to his mother but asked for an injection. The doctor said, on her request, the staff gave the normal dose of antibiotics (ceftriaxone).

Dr Gagrani said, ‘However, soon after the injection, the boy started foaming at the mouth and fell unconscious. He died while trying to treat him. The doctor said, ‘This is the second case of anaphylactic shock I have seen in my 40 years of medical career, the first case was in 1980 at the Government Community Health Center in Talera. He said, it is quite impossible to save someone from anaphylactic shock.

Dr Gagrani said that after the boy’s condition deteriorated, his mother told him about the allergic reaction he had suffered after being given an injection in their village three days ago.The doctor said, ‘The injection caused a reaction on his skin and this could be the cause of death.

He said, ‘If the child’s mother had told me about the injection in advance, I would not have given the dose of antibiotics.’ Regarding the case, SHO Tejpal of Bundi City Police Station said that on the complaint of the boy’s mother, the police have registered a case of suspicious death under section 194 of BNSS.

SI Awadhesh Kumar of Kotwali police station said that in the whole matter, the post-mortem of the body has been done by the medical board and the body has been handed over to the family members. Investigation is being done to find out what exactly happened. According to the allegation of the family members, the injection given by the compounder has also been confiscated. Along with this, the injection ticket written by the doctor has also been confiscated. Whatever facts come to light in the investigation, action will be taken. The post mortem report is also awaited.
