Bangalore health festival from June 14

Bengaluru: The second edition of the Bangalore Health Festival (BHF) will be conducted from June 14 to 17 at Palace Grounds. The four-day event will organise a series of talks by medical specialists, panel discussions, debates, open houses and health check-ups for students, senior citizens, women, corporates and other stakeholders from the healthcare industry.

“It is important to become conscious of one’s health and take up serious measures to ensure urban and hectic lifestyles don’t pose a threat to our quality of life. We need to be more aware of the options available to us to live a healthy life,” said Deepak Thimmaiah, festival director and founder of TV House, which is organising the event.

The Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology will conduct a free screening for cancer at the venue, while healthcare startups will showcase latest in healthcare technology and innovations. The festival will also host sessions on healthy cooking. A series of events and cultural activities are planned in the days leading up to the festival. This includes painting and essay-writing competitions for children, quizzes on healthcare and poster-making.

“Through this platform, we want to create an ecosystem where the general public can gain knowledge and the industry stakeholders can understand the pulse of the market. We want to create a positive mood about healthcare in the city,” said Thimmaiah.

The advisory committee for BHF comprises of five doctors from Karnataka, and is headed by Dr. H Sudarshan Ballal, chairman, Manipal Hospitals. At the festival, awards will be given to medical professionals who have contributed significantly to public health and wellness.
