Raipur
Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation black-listed four renowned medicine manufacturing companies, accused of supplying poor quality drugs. The ban has been imposed for three years on each of them. It is also planning to approach court for permanent ban on these companies, which allegedly tried to cheat state government by hiding details (these companies have been banned by other states) and also tried to sell medicine with wrong expiry dates.Brooks Laboratories Limited and Unijules Life Sciences Limited, both from Maharashtra have been banned. Another pharma company named Cardiac Healthcare Limited from Gujarat has also banned in Chhattisgarh from 2016 to 2019.
Even officials of the corporation have been accused of mismanagement, for showing callousness in verifying the documents produced by the firms.
The mismanagement was revealed after an inquiry was ordered following complaints by some doctors.
An official from the corporation informed that notices were issued to all three companies to come-up with their justifications but none of them replied to the notices. Fed-up with the prevailing black marketing being done by pharma companies in Chhattisgarh, state government has sought suggestions of common people on how the medicines should be purchased and how transparency can be maintained. On the orders of health ministry, the corporation has uploaded a format for suggestions on their website on which common people can send their views till April 23.
