DCGI issued instructions to put a rack for generic drugs in a Private Chemist Shops

The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI), in a favor to promote generic medicines has issued instructions to all Indian states drug controllers to ensure that every private retail chemist shop has a separate rack of generic medicines. This will ensure the availability of generic drugs at the store and this will help the patients and their families to choose the cheaper version of the same medicines.

It’s a good news that soon, we all able to see cheaper generic drugs being stocked in separate racks in private chemist shops. This will ease out the woes, in the scenario, where patients have to pay through their nose for buying drugs.

Indian government trying their best to make healthcare services affordable for all and promotion of generic medicines is one of the best act. Due to high rates of commissions and profits, some doctors and chemist shops recommending and selling high priced medicines but Indian government trying their best to keep the check on them.

3,000 Jan Aushadhi stores running by the Central Government to provide cheaper drugs to the patients. JP Nadda, Union health minister told that drugs of worth Rs 680 crores were made available to 73 lakh patients through their Jan Aushadhi stores that simply leads to saving around
Rs 374 crore for the patients.
