Delhi ‘Mahakumbh’ on Dental Implants promises New Era of Teeth

New Delhi:  There is amazing advancements in the field of teeth restoration and rehabilitation so much so that losing teeth is no more a bad news. If you have ever been through excruciating teeth pain, losing all teeth may, in fact, be good news. The new set of teeth that dental implants offer will completely eliminate pain in teeth. 3 day Global American Academy of Implant Dentistry (GAAID) and World Congress for Oral Implantology Conference (WCOI), starting from November 8 beaconed to enter a new era of fixed artificial teeth better placed than the natural ones.

On the eve of this veritable Mahakumbh on dental implants, Prof. Mahesh Verma, Vice Chancellor  of Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University, former Principal of Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences and Chairman of the event in a press conference at The Leela Ambience Convention Hotel unveiled the tantalizing prospect of new age dentistry. Himself a renowned prosthodontist, Dr Verma gave a exhaustive lowdown on the high points of 6th Global American Academy of Implant Dentistry(GAAID) and 12th World Congress for Oral Implantology Conference (WCOI). Dr. Brij Sabherwal, Organising Secretary of the Conference, also highlighted the groundbreaking advancements and future potential of implant dentistry.

Prof. Verma stressed the fact that dental implants have become indispensable aspect of modern dentistry. Dental implants and its consistent advancement, thanks to extensive research, is poised to unleash a new era of teeth restoration and rehabilitation. The digital technology and Artificial Intelligence have packed a punch in modern dentistry. Whole new set of transformations in dentistry and oral treatment are in the offing. Dr Verma said, ‘The new found potential of replacing lost teeth with fixed implants has not only widened the scope of dental care but has become integral to dental treatment. Today, dental treatment without implants is unimaginable.’

Prof. Verma detailed the transformative technologies in implant dentistry, including the use of titanium screws that bond seamlessly with bone, functioning like natural teeth. He highlighted the evolution in implant quality, with new methods ensuring faster healing and better patient outcomes. Cutting-edge developments include digital and guided implant surgeries, dental CT scans, 3D printing of implants, and computer-generated precision plates. Dr Verma lauded the contributions of organizations such as the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) and the World Congress for Oral Implantology (WCOI), noting their structured, unbiased educational programs. He pointed out AAID’s 25 years of dedicated work and the success of its 300-hour MaxiCourse, which has been pivotal for practitioners.

The 3 day conference is hosting approximately 800-900 doctor delegates entailing  45 keynote speakers from 14 countries, supported by 65 distinguished Indian faculty lecturers. Over 60 companies are participating in trade exhibition, alongside comprehensive paper ans poster presentations by 60 PG students. Technical sessions, hands-on training, and nine workshops, including three pre-conference courses on 3D printing, digital workflows, and advanced healing techniques, are set to enrich the attendees’ experience.

Innovations in Implant Technology New advancements such as immediate implant placement and loading, laser techniques, titanium alloys for enhanced strength, and novel materials like zirconia for enhanced aesthetics. Emerging biomimetic materials and biodegradable solutions are ensuring natural aesthetics and minimal invasiveness, making dental procedures today almost painless.
