PUNE: The Wakad police have booked a medical practitioner on the charge of duping his patient of Rs75,000.
A 30-year-old technician working with a private company in Chakan on Friday lodged a complaint against the medical practitioner with the Wakad police.
An officer from the Wakad police told TOI that the complainant, who is a resident of Moshi, stated in his complaint that in September last year, he was admitted to a private hospital for treatment. “The complainant told us that he had informed the doctor that he had insurance but when he received the bill, the doctor told him that his claim was not sanctioned and helped him take a loan,” the officer said.
Once the insurance company snatched his claim of Rs63,000, which he had transferred to the doctor’s bank account. “The victim requested the doctor to repay the loan, to which he agreed, but stopped after the the first three EMIs,” the officer said.
“When the victim approached the doctor, he abused and beat him,” the officer added. On learning that the doctor had shut his hospital the victim approached the police.
