Fake Cosmetic Product Worth Rs 1.20 Lakh Seized In Balaghat

Balaghat: Fake cosmetic products are being sold in the name of a renowned company in Balaghat city for a long time. After continuous complaints to the company and laboratory tests, a team from Mumbai raided four shops operating in Gujri market on Friday. During this period the Kotwali police team was also present.

A four-member investigation team of Lakme Company and the police force have seized fake cosmetics worth about Rs 1 lakh 20 thousand. Actually, Lakme company’s foundation, cream etc. were being sold in the city market in the name of the company. Due to the identical packaging and writing, women customers were buying these fake products fearlessly and are also using them without any worry.

Surprisingly, the quantity in the company name has also been manipulated. The member of the investigation team said that in the past, complaints had been received about the company getting copyrights and selling fake products of the company. After purchasing these fake products from about 12 shops, samples were collected and tested in the laboratory. During investigation, all the products were found to be fake. Considering four of these shops as suspicious, they have been raided.

After this, the investigation team of Lakme Company from Mumbai reached Balaghat. With the help of Balaghat Police and Kotwali team, four shops were raided in Gujari Bazaar on Friday and fake products used by women and girls in marriage or other functions were seized from each shop, whose estimated value was Rs 1.20 lakh.

According to sources, if the above action had been taken in the month of March-April, a large quantity of fake cosmetic products would definitely have been recovered. According to the information, the investigation team lodged a report against the said shop operators till late evening.

After registering the FIR, the said case will be presented in the court by the investigation team. The team told that there is a risk of skin cancer due to the fake products being sold by shopkeepers in the name of renowned companies. To earn profits, shopkeepers are openly playing with the lives of customers.
