IAS Tina Dabi’s Crackdown On Govt Doctors

Barmer: 2015 UPSC topper Tina Dabi frequently makes headlines for both her personal and professional life. Recently returning to work after maternity leave, she is now serving as the District Collector of Barmer.

Dabi is currently in the spotlight for taking action against government doctors who were found absent during their shifts. Conducting surprise inspections, she discovered several doctors practising in their private clinics instead of fulfilling their government duties.

During one such inspection, Dabi confronted a doctor who was supposed to be on duty at Jail Dispensaries but was found working at his private clinic at home. The doctor defended himself, stating that he had already attended to patients at the dispensaries before arriving at his private clinic.

Dabi emphasized that many doctors appeared to have hurried back from their private practices upon hearing about her inspections. She reiterated that strict vigilance would be maintained going forward, and any negligence would result in consequences for those found slacking.

The young IAS officer emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards negligence regarding public health. She emphasized that all doctors are under scrutiny and must fulfil their service duties during their assigned shifts

Previously, Dabi was observed leading a cleanliness drive from Ahimsa Circle, the main square of Barmer city, to the Government Hospital. During this drive, she instructed roadside shops and cart operators to maintain cleanliness in front of their premises. She warned shopkeepers of fines and the confiscation of temporary carts if cleanliness standards were not met after an initial warning.
