Jaipur: A Grade Second nursing officer at Jaipur Central Jail has been arrested for allegedly supplying narcotic drugs to prisoners, following a tip-off from an inmate and a trail of mobile records that exposed the illicit network.
The case traces back to September 24, when Bhankrota police station apprehended three suspects—Abhiraj Singh, Sampat Singh, and Ankush Agarwal—recovering a carton with 86 packets containing over 37,000 narcotic capsules. The investigation shifted to Bindayka police station, where a special team, aided by Jaipur’s cyber unit, scrutinized call detail records (CDR) from the suspects’ phones.
The probe revealed repeated communications between Ankush Agarwal and Gograj Garhwal, an inmate serving time at Jaipur Central Jail for a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) case. On Monday, Garhwal was taken into custody via a production warrant and, during questioning, implicated 35-year-old nursing officer Rajkumar—son of Ramchandra Jaat and a resident of Kaman village under Rajgarh police station in Churu district—as his supplier inside the facility.
Rajkumar, who had caught wind of the investigation and fled, was tracked down and arrested on Tuesday from his village by the Bindayka team. “The CDR analysis was crucial in connecting the dots and leading to these arrests,” said DCP West Hanuman Prasad Meena.
Both Rajkumar and Garhwal now face charges related to the possession and supply of narcotics. The bust highlights vulnerabilities in the high-security jail, which recently saw a separate escape incident on September 20, where two inmates scaled a 27-foot wall using rubber pipes and navigated high-tension wires to flee—though no link to this drug case has been established.
Authorities continue to probe the supply chain, aiming to dismantle any remaining links to prevent further smuggling into the prison.
