‘Lack of adequate infrastructure is a hindrance in providing quality medical services’

Agra: Patients seeking medical care at SN Medical College are being exposed to ‘dirty air’ as medical waste materials are overflowing from bins and garbage is strewn all around. The hospitals lack proper stretcher arrangements as well. Patients are exposed to uncleaned toilets and beetel stains all around. Doctors treating patients also run a risk of contracting infection.

Agra’s SN Medical College Medicine building block near the principal’s office has become a cause of concern for patients and doctors. The scenario at the hospital’s emergency is even worse with rusted stretchers and drops of blood.

HOD of medicine, Dr PK Maheshwari, said, “We have severe lack of manpower resources like nurses and cleaners. Lack of adequate infrastructure is a hindrance in providing quality medical services.”

He added that Rajya Nirman Nigam is renovating the medicine building. 9 multi super specialty departments of medicine are in the pipeline.

“SNMC is a big medical institution. It will take time to improve the hospital from ground level. As SNMC is under AIIMS phase 4 category project, multi-super specialty blocks will come up with more beds and PG seats,” principal of SNMC, Dr GK Aneja said.
