Large quantity of banned cough syrup recovered from truck, three arrested

Kharagpur: Law enforcement officials executed a naka checking operation in the Fekoghat region of the Beliabeda police station, located within the Kharagpur Jhargram district, resulting in the seizure of a significant quantity of prohibited cough syrup. During this operation, three individuals were apprehended, including the truck driver.

The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Rohit Singh, a resident of the Jamankira area in the state of Odisha; Pankaj Sahu, from the Talabhat Pada area of Odisha; and Gardeep Singh, who resides in the Kadalipal area of Odisha.

Authorities were alerted to the situation through confidential information provided by an informant, indicating that a truck laden with a substantial amount of banned syrup was scheduled to transit through the area. Upon receiving this intelligence, the police promptly initiated their response.

The naka checking operation was carried out in the vicinity, during which the truck was thoroughly inspected. The search yielded the discovery of 3,500 bottles of the prohibited syrup within the vehicle. The police have confiscated both the seized syrup and the truck. An investigation into the incident is currently underway following the arrest of the three suspects, including the driver of the truck.
