Police Busted: Arrested With 4800 Drug Injections, Five Thousand Tablets

Raigarh: Police have busted a big racket selling drugs along with ganja in and around the city. Six accused have been arrested in two cases. On the behest of a drug dealer of the city, Jutmil police raided a medical store located in Kanaktura, Odisha and recovered ganja and medicine.

The Kotwali police, after interrogating the accused caught near the railway station, raided a house in Dhangardipa area of Baikunthpur. In both the police operations, 2050 Butram ampoules, 2737 Tramadol capsules and syrup, Alprex 3750 tablets, Nitrazepam 1300 tablets and six kg of ganja have been seized. The value of the seized drug paraphernalia is approximately Rs 16 lakh.

On Friday afternoon, SP Divyang Patel held a press conference in the police control room and gave the information. Let us tell you that due to its proximity to Odisha, not only ganja but also banned or prescription drugs are widely sold in Raigarh for intoxication. Action is also taken on this from time to time.

But in reality the action is minor compared to consumption. Youth in the lower neighborhoods or outskirts of the city use injections and tablets. The miscreants who are addicted to such drugs have committed crimes like robbery, rape and murder on the streets. Butram injection is the most used drug among the young and minor drug addicts of the city. Along with this, Alprazolam, Spasmo Proxyvon, cough syrup containing codeine are also used for intoxication. Please note that these medicines can be sold only on the basis of prescription written by an authorized doctor.

There are frequent complaints of buying and selling of banned medicines without doctor’s prescription in the city. When SP Divyang Patel received this complaint, he instructed the police station officers to arrest such youth. Jutmill police came to know that a young man named Ramkumar Khaterjee provides such medicine to the nearby youth from his grocery shop. The police team raided, banned painkiller capsules were recovered from the possession of the accused. Case registered under 21, 29 NDPS Act.

He told the police that he buys banned medicines from Madhusudan Medical Store in Kanaktura town adjacent to Raigarh in Odisha without a doctor’s prescription. Under the leadership of CSP, Kotwali, Jute Mill Police and Cyber Cell raided Kanakapura Madhusudan Medical Store. Its director Padmalochan Mehar was taken into custody and interrogated.

Kotwali police caught a young man named Suresh Verma near the railway station. He was selling intoxicating tablets. Police found drug capsules from Suresh. He told during interrogation that he had bought the drug from Ghasiram Sidar of Dhangardipa. CSP Abhinav Upadhyay along with the police team raided the house of Ghasi Ram Sidar. Here Dilip Singh Rajput was standing to buy drugs. Police recovered a large quantity of drug injection ampules from Ghasiram’s house. Injections and cash worth more than Rs 15 thousand were also recovered from Dilip Singh. Kotwali police has taken action against all three accused under Section 21(B), 29 NDPS Act.

Opioid analgesic is a type of analgesic (pain reliever) drugs. It is prepared from opium or similar synthetic chemicals. This medicine is used for severe pain (acute pain). This medicine is used in surgery, delivery, orthopedic surgery or pain, cancer pain. This medicine is very effective but it also causes addiction.

Because of this side effect, these types of pain relievers are used for addiction. Chemical opioids like morphine, codeine, fentanyl, methadone, tramadol are considered analgesics. Along with this, benzodiazepine medicines are also widely used by drug addicts. Medicines like Alprazolam, Nitrazepam belong to this class. Due to their use, muscles and brain become dull. It is used to reduce anxiety or nervousness. Overdosage of opioid analgesic or benzodiazepine medicine can also lead to death.

This medicine is supplied here from Odisha via Sariya, Barmkela, Kanaktura, Hamirpur. Youths from rural areas working in medicine shops are its vendors. These people provide this medicine at such shops in the city and rural areas. Drug addict youth buy it from here. Retail or wholesale drug dealers are not available here in Butram city. Records of its purchase and sale have to be maintained and tests are done from time to time, hence most of the shopkeepers do not keep these injections but in areas like Rambhatha, Rampur, Indira Nagar, Vijay Nagar, Leather Godown, Badpara, drug addicts can easily get them.
