Fact:Although many people like to think yoga is a sport due to it’s physical nature, it is by no means an athletic sport. Yoga is not a casu al past time that you can just take up as a hobby. It takes a lot of hard work and determination. It is the art and science of physical, mental and spiritual development. The stretches and postures exercised in yoga are meant to heal. So no, yoga is not a sport.
Myth:The physical side of yoga is the most important.
108 said yes out of 200
Fact:
Although the physical aspect of yoga seems like the most important part, it’s not. Yoga is all about feeling at peace with the world and relaxing your mind body and soul. While the physical aspect is a key part in practicing yoga, it is not the most important. You could do modified versions of the stretches and still get the same results.
Myth:Yoga is only for women.
54 said yes
Fact:
While women are the majority of yoga participants around the world, this does not mean that men can’t find their inner peace via yoga as well. Yoga offers something for everyone.
Myth:Everybody has to practice the same postures.
64 said yes
Fact:
While most yoga classes consist of people practicing the same postures and doing the same stretches, it doesn’t mean you have to join in. For example, if your downward facing dog looks more like a downward facing horse, try something a little different. That position is obviously not working for you. The needs of individuals vary according to their physical capabilities. It’s best to perform structures that best suit you.
Myth:It’s good to practice outdoors.

While it look all fun and fancy in the movies, practicing yoga outside can actually do more harm than good. Practicing yoga outside with even the slightest breeze can cause you to catch a cold or interfere with your peaceful nature.
Myth: Incense should be burning.
85 said yes
Another myth we can thank Hollywood for. While it may seems like a good idea, burning incense while practicing yoga, doing so may interfere or hinder the relaxing process.

Many styles of yoga include gentle and flowing movements that allow you to use a chair to balance. These forms of yoga are perfect for someone with arthritis.
Myth:Yoga is too gentle to have any physical benefits.
41 said yes
Yes, yoga is gentle in the sense that it’s not as strenuous as traditional methods of exercise, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t as effective when it comes to losing weight or getting fit. Practicing yoga on a regular basis can improve muscle strength and joint flexibility while boosting mood and controlling stress. Yoga also helps improve flexibility and endurance.
Myth :It will give you better orgasms.
80 said yes
Unfortunately, this is a myth. Contrary to popular belief, yoga will not automatically turn you into a sex goddess. However, practicing yoga regularly will increase your flexibility, which can help make your time under the sheets a little more enjoyable.
