CIPMMA Becomes Pan-India Organization As 8 Marketers’ Trade Bodies From North India Join The Consortium

Chennai : The Trichy-based Consortium of Indian Pharmaceutical Marketers and Manufacturers Associations (CIPMMA) has become a pan India organization of pharma marketers and manufacturers with affiliation of similar trade bodies from other states of the country.

Eight marketers’ trade bodies from different states have joined the consortium and the national general body of the consortium will be held on June 1 and 2 at Mahabalipuram, near Chennai. To make the program a mega national event, an organizing committee was formed with the charter secretary A Panneerselvam and Chennai zone secretary B Jeyachandran as national coordinator and national convener.

According to Jayachandran, 40 members from different states including Delhi will attend the 13th general body of the CIPMMA. New office-bearers will be elected in the AGM.

On March 25, in a virtual conference of state office-bearers of marketers associations from north India and western part of the country, the association has made the jurisdiction of its operations all over India. Eight state bodies have joined the online conference, said A Panneerselvam, national coordinator for the marketers’ body.

Vinod Sethi and Uday Kanjikar, leading pharma marketers from Maharashtra, Jitendra Jathav from Madhya Pradesh, Kapil Arora and Vineet Gupta from Haryana, Veerayya Bang from Karnataka and Srinivasa Rao from Telengana have spoken in the online seminar. Members from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Uttaranchal and West Bengal have also attended the virtual meeting. Some marketers from Kolkata, Faridabad, Punjab and Baddi have informed Pharmabiz that they would also associate with the national confederation of the marketers associations.

With CIPMMA becomes a national trade body of pharmaceutical marketers, it naturally becomes a parallel organization to the retailers forum, AIOCD. Panneerselvam said he will discuss with the All India Chemists and Distributors Federation (AICDF) for joint work in states where CIPMMA has no foothold at present. However, it prefers independent marketing companies as member organizations.

M Karunai Kadal, president of the consortium said by extending the area of activities across the country CIPMMA wants to fulfill its vision to protect the basic interests of the domestic pharmaceutical industry and to serve the public along with the government for a better healthcare.

He said CIPMMA was formed as a unique organization to bridge the gap between the marketers and the manufacturers. Although there are associations for pharmaceutical manufacturers, this is the only one association to have the membership of both marketers and manufacturers with equal rights and common platform. The consortium of marketers was formed in an all Indian perspective in 2008 and the day one onwards it is working in a systematic way, said Kadal.

Meanwhile, some office-bearers of CIPMMA have held a discussion with the TN IDMA chairman, J Jayaseelan in Chennai following the expansion of its jurisdiction throughout the length and breadth of the country.
