The Lucknow tragedy that was happened due to the stopped supply of oxygen from a company and caused the death of over 30 children from August 9 to August 11 at the hospital. A FIR has been lodged against many persons, Rajiv Mishra and Pushpa Sales, former principal of Gorakhpur’s BRD medical college are among them.
Police lodged FIR against accused under section 409, 308, 120 (b) and 420 of the IPC at the Hazratganj police station. Police also added section 7/13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and section 15 of the Indian Medical Council Act on the accused.
Police keeping this FIR a closely guarded secret and the disclosed information states that 6 BRD officials are involved including Pushpa Sales and Dr. Satish Kumar, head of the department (anesthesia) who was responsible for ensuring uninterrupted oxygen supply at the hospital.
FIR has been made on the basis of a report prepared by the committee headed by chief secretary Rajiv Kumar. Main members of the committee are Alok Kumar(secretary health), Mukesh Mittal (Secretary finance) and Dr. Hem Chandra (medical superintendent of Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences) had submitted their report to the Chief Minister.
Gajanan Jaiswal, BRD chief pharmacist also named for not maintaining a logbook and overwriting on the stock book. A number of persons with three staff members of accounts department have been held responsible for not processing file about payment of bills.
