Mantra, The Surgical Robot, gets at the Centre of Surgeons’ Universe

Gurugram/ New Delhi: Globe trotter and globally renowned robotic surgeon and maker of surgical robot Mantra, Dr Sudhir Srivastava was spoilt for choices as to which admiration he should feel most proud of. An Indian American former AIIMS surgeon saying Dr Srivastava fulfilled the dream of Dr APJ Abdul Kalan, other equally heavy weight surgeon saying Dr Srivastava embellished America by his over 1400 robotic cardio thoracic surgeries there made him visibly overwhelmed.. The praise showered on Dr Srivasta, the maestro, by Moon Man of India and former Director of ISRO, Dr Mylswamy Annadurai and Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya were cherry on the cake. All these were stuff of a Vishwaguru indeed.

The two day SS Innovations’ global multispecialty robotic surgery conference named SMRSC 2024 @ Leelapalace hotel  proved a huge endorsement for Mantra, the surgical robot made under the pull of Make in India fervor. The conference was super success as surgeons from all across India and abroad came in force to witness Indian pride Mantra hogging lime lights. The live Tele surgeries showcased were real thrill. The vibes indicated that surgeons are now well looking at Mantra as their future computer consoles.

The likes of celebrity heart surgeon and Medanta MD Dr Naresh Trehan, Dr Sudhir K Rawal of Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre, Delhi, Dr Vivek Bindal of Max Healthcare, Dr Somashekhar SP of Aster DM Healthcare, Dr Arun Prasad, Dr Mani Menon, Founder Director of  Vattikuti Urology Institute were in attendance.

The penultimate day packed a punch as Mantra seemed to mesmerize Bandaru Dattatreya, Governor of Haryana. He was so mighty impressed by surgical robot Mantra crafted by SS Innovations and achievement of globally renowned Robotic Surgeon Dr Sudhir Srivastava that he promised all government support to promotion of Mantra, the greatest trophy of Make in India. He further said that Dr. Srivastava has made a surgical robot in just Rs. 6 crores as against the imported ones which costs Rs. 15 crores which is huge savings for our country It was the kind of boost the maker of Mantra was waiting for.

The live robotic surgeries by Mantra at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute, New Delhi, Aster CMI Hospital, Bengaluru, Apex Hospital, Moradabad, Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram and Apollo Hospital, Bengaluru was quite exhilarating as well.

The first day (January 19) was not less invigorating when who’s who robotic surgeons of India and abroad held nothing back in profusely praising Mantra and its creator Dr Sudhir Srivastava..Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar,  Union MoS for Health congratulated Dr Sudhir Srivastava through video messages.

Former AIIMS surgeon based in America Dr Ashok K Hemal said that Dr Sudhir Srivastava has fulfilled the dream of iconic late president of India Dr A P J Abdul Kalam. He also agreed in a conversation on sidelines that in fact Dr Srivastava fulfilled the ‘Make in India’ dream of PM Narendra Modi as well. Dr Hemal, currently in Wake Forest Medical School and Baptist Medical Centre, NC, USA also said that late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam once shared his dream of creating Indian surgical robotic system but somehow it could not happen. Dr Hemal added, ‘Dr Sudhir Srivastava fulfilled his dream.’.

Dr Gurunath Reddy, Founder Chairman of Continental hospitals said that Dr Sudhir Srivastava  is one who has embellished America by his robotic cardio thoracic surgeries there. But Dr Frederik Moll in his video speech from America clinched the issue once and for all. Dr Moll, the main scientist of American surgical robot Da Vinci, has left Da Vinci to join Dr Srivastava’s company SS Innovations which has created Mantra. Dr Moll spoke in great length about attributes of Mantra and Dr Srivastava. The Moll is of the firm view that dawning of Mantra on Indian scene is one of the biggest disruptions taking place in healthcare anywhere in the world..

The global conference  witnessed enthusiastic participation from 150+ world renowned doctors from around the world coming together on a single platform to discuss the future landscape of robotic surgery globally, integration of Artificial Intelligence in surgery and the pursuit of sustainable tele-surgery.

The highlight of the 2-day event is the Live surgeries, conducted by renowned robotic surgeons with SSI Mantra, which will showcase the system’s practical applications across various surgical specialties including cardiac surgery, providing attendees with real-time insights and valuable learning experiences.

Summing up Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, Founder, Chairman & CEO, SS Innovations, said, “the first global SS Innovations Multispecialty Robotic Surgery Conference 2024 aims to foster collaboration, knowledge exchange, and innovation in the realm of robotic surgery by uniting thought leaders, practitioners, and industry experts.
