fake pacemaker, 80 patients and 17 deaths, trading lives for 10% profit; Story of UP Medical College

The police have got a big breakthrough in the much-discussed pacemaker case of Etawa in Uttar Pradesh. Police have nabbed the main supplier of fake pacemakers to the hospital. The supplier has been identified as Bhaduram’s son Indrajit Kumar. The supplier, a resident of Azamgarh, was arrested near Gate No. 3 of PGI Saifai. The fraudster supplied 80 fake pacemakers along with the then Dr. Samir Saraf of the Cardiology Department of Saifai Medical University.

The doctor also fitted these pacemaker patients. 17 patients have died after this. This created a commotion and later after arresting the doctor an attempt was made to save the remaining patients. Accused Indrajit during police interrogation said that he works at Krishna Health Care Company in Kanpur. This company supplies pacemakers to Biotonic Company. He said that in the year 2018, he met PGI Saifai’s Dr. colluded with Sameer Saraf and conspired to make non-MRI pacemakers available to patients by labeling them as MRI pacemakers.

80 non-MRI pacemakers were installed

Indeed, at that time an MRI pacemaker from Biotronic Company was priced at Rs 2 lakh, while a non-MRI pacemaker was available for Rs 80 thousand. In such a situation, he started charging the cost of MRI pacemakers by fitting patients with non-MRI pacemakers. According to the accused, he used to get 10 percent of the amount recovered and the remaining amount to Dr. Sameer was taking. The accused said that he Dr. A total of 80 pacemakers were given to Sameer.
