As resident doctor, male nurse clash at hospital in Ajmer, strike threats loom

Ajmer:  A resident doctor and a male nurse at JLN Hospital locked horns Thursday morning and accused each other of beating and misbehaving, leading to the unions of medical staff and resident doctors to threaten a strike of work if action was not taken.

Resident doctor Chandra Prakesh alleged that medical nurse Suresh Choudhary misbehaved with him and attacked him when asked to wear a mask and cap to avoid infection in the ICU of the hospital’s paediatric department. Choudhary, however, alleged that Dr Prakash misbehaved with him in presence of a female nurse in the ward.
The incident prompted both the unions to demand registration of an FIR against the accused.

The hospital administration called for CCTV footage to verify the allegations of both men. The nursing union gathered at the main gate and threatened to go on strike if action was not taken against Dr Prakash by the evening.

Hospital superintendent Dr Arvind Khare said, “We have formed a five-member committee to verify the allegations of both men. Action will be taken as per rules against anyone found guilty.”
