Massive Eskuf haul seized from train in Agartala

Agartala:  In yet another major drug bust on the railway route, a large consignment of Eskuf cough syrup was seized at Badharghat Railway Station, once again exposing the growing menace of narcotics smuggling into the state. The recovery has raised serious questions about the effectiveness of surveillance and preventive measures being undertaken by the state administration.

According to official sources, Agartala Railway Police conducted a routine inspection of a goods train at Badharghat Railway Station when they detected suspicious packages. Upon thorough checking, the consignment was found to contain a 2,998  Eskuf bottles, a banned intoxicant widely abused as a narcotic substance.

The seizure comes close on the heels of a similar recovery at Jirania Railway Station recently, indicating that drug traffickers are increasingly using railway routes to smuggle contraband into Tripura. The repeated incidents have put law enforcement agencies on high alert and have once again brought the issue of interstate drug trafficking into sharp focus.

Police officials stated that investigations are underway to identify those involved in the racket. Preliminary findings suggest that the consignment was being transported from outside the state and was meant for illegal distribution within Tripura. However, no arrests have been reported so far in connection with the latest seizure.

The growing number of drug recoveries from railway stations since today afternoon has sparked public concern over the easy inflow of narcotics into the state. Citizens and social organizations have urged the government to strengthen monitoring mechanisms at railway entry points and intensify crackdowns on smuggling networks.

This incident has once again placed the state government under scrutiny, with questions being raised about border security and internal vigilance systems. Law enforcement agencies have assured that stricter measures will be implemented to curb such activities in the coming days.

The Agartala Railway Police have registered a case and further investigation is in progress to trace the source and intended recipients of the seized consignment.
