Bengaluru: In a major breakthrough in the illegal pharmaceutical network operating in Karnataka, investigators from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) raided Krupa Health Care at Minerva Circle, seizing a cache of counterfeit medicines, financial records, and crucial supply documents.
During the operation, officers detained the proprietor of the establishment, licensed pharmacist Veeresh Kumar. Investigators identified Kumar as the alleged kingpin behind the widespread distribution of fake life-saving medications.
The crackdown follows last month’s raid on a secret stockhouse in Tavarekere, Magadi, which first exposed the spurious drug network. Investigations revealed that Kumar leveraged his status as a licensed professional — having established Krupa Health Care in 2021 — to build a legitimate front for trafficking counterfeit pharmaceutical goods.
Kumar allegedly supplied mislabelled and spurious medications, including counterfeit versions of high-demand Pfizer products, to over 90 hospitals and clinics across Bengaluru and neighbouring regions.
The racket extended beyond Karnataka, with supply networks established in states including Maharashtra and Gujarat.
Kumar managed an organised team of over 15 medical representatives to market and distribute the counterfeit drugs directly to medical centres and buyers.
