Best in Class Surgical Robot SSiMantra is his Weapon of Surefire Succes
Patna: The knight in the shining armor is top notch robotic surgeon London returned Dr Bipin Jha. The UK’s National Health Service (NHS) fame colorectal surgeon Dr Jha is being hailed as ‘Samrat’ of robotic surgery in Bihar. After 12-year stint with iconic NHS, he has left London to make his state a go- to place for best surgery. His weapon of surefire success is SSiMantra, the best-in-class surgical robot, most accessible and affordable. With inauguration of Robotic Surgery Department in Savera Cancer and Multispecialty Hospital by Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Choudhary, it is a fait accompli that it will be a big draw on patients who want best surgery outcome closer home.
It is looked at as significant boost to advanced healthcare in the state. The inauguration ceremony marked a major step forward in bringing cutting-edge, minimally invasive surgical technology closer to patients in Bihar and the eastern region. At the centre of this milestone is Dr Bipin Jha, Director of Robotic and Colorectal Surgery at the hospital, who is increasingly being recognised as the Samrat of robotic surgery in Bihar. With 12 years of experience in the National Health Service (NHS) in the United Kingdom and recent service as faculty for the prestigious ‘Robocert’ basic robotic course at Portsmouth Hospitals University Trust, Dr Jha brings international-standard expertise to Patna.
During the inauguration, Dr Jha personally demonstrated the SSI Mantra robotic platform to the Deputy Chief Minister, highlighting its advanced safety features and precision capabilities. He invited Mr Choudhary for a hands-on session at the console. The Deputy Chief Minister readily took up the offer, operating the system with enthusiasm and expressing clear satisfaction at the experience. Those present noted his keen interest as he
spent time exploring the console’s controls and interface.
The SSI Mantra system, a next-generation robotic surgical platform, enables surgeons to perform complex procedures with enhanced precision, reduced recovery times and improved patient outcomes. Its introduction at Savera Hospital positions the institution as a hub for high-quality robotic care in the region.
Dr Jha emphasised the broader vision behind the new department. He expressed a strong desire to promote medical value travel in Bihar, encouraging international patients to access the hospital’s affordable, cost-effective and quality-driven robotic surgery programme. “Our aim is to offer world-class robotic care at a fraction of the cost patients would incur elsewhere, without compromising on safety or outcomes,” he said.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by senior doctors, hospital staff and well-wishers, took place outside the newly designated O.T. 3, underscoring the hospital’s commitment to expanding specialised surgical infrastructure. The event reflects growing confidence in Bihar’s capacity to deliver sophisticated healthcare services previously available mainly in metropolitan centres or abroad.
With Dr Bipin Jha at the helm and the SSI Mantra platform now operational, Savera Cancer and Multi Specialty Hospital is poised to set new benchmarks in robotic and colorectal surgery, reinforcing Patna’s emerging role as a destination for advanced, accessible medical care.
