Every pharma manufacturing company providing samples of their medicines to the physician and recently the Drug Control Administration (DCA) sleuths busted a racket who were selling physician samples to the retailers. Large quantities of drug samples worth cost 8 lakhs have been seized by the DCA officials that were intended to be sold in retail market illegally at Tenali in Guntur district. The seized samples sent for the detailed analysis over the suspicion that whether the drugs are original or not.
DCA got information about the illegal selling of the physician samples to the local chemists and conducted raids in Tenali at three places. The seized medicines are labeled with various multinational drug companies like Ranbaxy, Dr. Reddy’s, Cipla, and much more that were found in the house and a warehouse belonged to one B China Raghavaiah.
These seized drug samples are being procured from Chennai and being transported to Guntur, as per the officials and the Navata Transport carrier services delivering the samples. The DCA team also seized the promotional banners and cards in the Raghavaiah’s home.
And the same kind of samples was found in the house of M Venumadhav during a raid by the DCA sleuths.Venumadhav and Raghavaiah both are not authorized sellers. Indian Law not allowing any free gifts supply from pharma manufacturers to prescribe their branded medicines but companies still providing these to promote their products.
DCA officials said we also take action against transport carrier as this is mandatory to verify documents before to accept any consignment. And DCA officials still not clear that the medicines are original or fake, so they sent samples for their complete analysis.
Cases have been filed against Raghavaiah and Venumadhav under Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
