NRI Healthcare Honcho pledges big for India Pavilion at Dubai Expo

New Delhi/ Dubai: Healthcare honchos are looking at upcoming Dubai Expo 2020 with much anticipation. NRI healthcare tycoon Dr Azad Moopen, Chairman, Aster DM Healthcare in Dubai has pledged huge money towards the construction of India Pavilion.

Dr Moopen made the pledge on the occasion of Piyush Goyal, Indian Union Minister for Commerce, Industry and Railways unveiling the designs at a function in Dubai on Saturday (September 21). India Pavilion will be a large four-storey building.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Moopen said, ‘It gives us immense pleasure to be one of the participants for the India Pavilion in Expo2020.  This is an opportunity for showcasing India’s capabilities to the whole world. There is excellent prospect for us to show our culture, technology, innovation and research capabilities to the world. Having a large India Pavilion at Expo2020 will also boost India – UAE bilateral relations.’

Aster DM Healthcare is one of the largest private healthcare service providers operating in multiple GCC states and is an emerging healthcare player in India. With an inherent emphasis on clinical excellence the Company is one of the few entities in the world with a strong presence across primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary healthcare through its 25 hospitals, 115 clinics and 231 pharmacies.

Dr Sangeeta Reddy, Joint Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals and President Elect of the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce (FICCI) gave a presentation on the occasion. FICCI has entered into a partnership with the Indian government on the project. Dr Reddy said, ‘The theme of the pavilion is ‘The Future is India’. We strongly believe in this and we are taking care to uphold aesthetics, technology and culture in the construction of the project.’

Unveiling the model for the sprawling 4,800-square-feet pavilion, Mr Goyal said that time is ripe for India to engage with the world. The building will display a towering image of non-violence leader Mahatma Gandhi and the word ‘India’ written in Arabic, English and Hindi. Located in the Opportunity district, the pavilion will display the strength of emerging firms and showcase start-ups in technology, artificial intelligence, infrastructure, solar power and green energy.

About 30 varied areas of growth and development will be highlighted within the pavilion, including the government’s plans to boost manufacturing with its ‘Make in India’ campaign.
