New Delhi/ New York: The proof of the pudding is in the eating. The proverb came alive for Dr TBS Buxi of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Not long ago, he got ‘Distinguished Teacher Award’ from Vice, President of India. And close on the heels comes the great news from USA. He will now train American students.
In a first, Dr Buxi has been appointed Adjunct Professor of Imaging Sciences in the School of Medicine & Dentistry at University of Rochester, USA.
It will facilitate Postgraduate Students of the University. It will facilitate Postgraduate Students of the University to gain from the vast experience and in depth knowledge of Dr Buxi in the field of MRI and Imaging Sciences, acquired through intensive research & training over the last more than 40 years.
Visibly pleased with this rare honour, Dr Buxi talked at length to Medicare News about Radiology and quality of its education in India. He said he will teach US students visiting Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and also visit Rochester University, New York to teach them.
Talking and answering questions, Dr Buxi further said, ‘ I have been invited by leading Universities and Medical Institutes in India & abroad to guide the Senior Research Fellows in the field of Radiology & Latest Techniques of Imaging Sciences. While I will personally be visiting the University of Rochester for the Lecture Sessions, different batches of selected students from their Institute will also be invited to complete their Research Work under the intensive guidance of the Senior Doctors working in the Department of CT & MRI of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital at New Delhi.
Dr. Buxi further explained while there has been mushrooming of Imaging Centres all over India, yet only a small percentage of them are able to make proper evaluation of Chronic Diseases by effective use of CT & MRI Reports, especially relating to Brain disorders & Heart problems.
So to fill up this gap, Department of CT & MRI of Ganga Ram Hospital is organizing Regular Workshops, where Senior Doctors from renowned Hospitals across the Country actively participate to update their knowledge and sharpen their skills in making proper use of CT & MRI Technology to provide better service to their patients. Its also helping in creating more awareness among the general public for early detection & proper treatment of these life threatening diseases under the guidance of their doctors.
Dr. T.B.S. Buxi, Chairman Department of CT & MRI, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital was recently bestowed with NBE’s “Distinguished Teacher Award” 2018, by the Vice President of India.
Dr. Buxi has been associated with GRIPMER as a teacher faculty and has been involved in teaching and research in the field of radiology for the last 35 years. Besides being a teacher Dr. Buxi has also published numerous papers in National and International journals.
His vast experience and achievements in the field of Radiology perhaps prompted for the last line that an US University selected an Indian Radiologist to teach US students under this preview.
