Prayagraj: Racket Selling Fake Platelets Busted, 10 Arrested

Prayagraj : Playing with the lives of patients by selling fake platelets was busted on Friday. The SOG team arrested 10 people including the kingpin. 18 pouches of plasma, three pouches of fake platelets and 1.02 lakh cash and other items have been recovered from their possession. Among those arrested, three are from Mirzapur, one from Deoria and the rest from Prayagraj.

The kingpin of this gang is Raghavendra Singh alias Rahul Patel. who worked together with other people. SSP Shailesh Kumar Pandey said that during interrogation, the accused told that they buy plasma from the blood bank. One bag holds approximately 350 mL of plasma. After this, keeping 50- 50 ml plasma in empty pouches, they sell it as platelets and sell it for three to five thousand rupees. The SSP said that the gang leader is Raghavendra Singh. He is originally from Koraon and currently lives in Naini. The gang members were assigned different tasks. Some used to bring plasma, while others worked to find patients and relatives.

Link to Global Hospital continues investigation

According to the SSP, no link of the arrested accused with the Global Hospital and Trauma Center at Jhalwa, which was sealed a day ago in Dhumanganj, has come to fore. However, the accused have admitted that the staff of some hospitals were in touch with them. Through whom many times the needy used to contact him for platelets. The SSP says that it may also happen that any connection will come to the fore in further investigation. At present, police teams have been deployed. On the other hand, three two-wheelers and 13 mobile phones were also recovered from the gang members.

The investigation regarding the gang is still on. Pradeep Patel and Ajay Singh, two accomplices of the accused are still absconding. Search for him is going on. Shailesh Kumar Pandey, SSP

Preliminary investigation does not confirm allegations of offering Mosambi juice: DM

The allegation of death of patient Pradeep Pandey due to offering of Mosambi juice in the name of platelets has not been found to be true at present. DM Sanjay Kumar Khatri said in the press conference that an inquiry committee was constituted in this case comprising ACM I Saurabh Bhatt, CO II NN Singh and Deputy CMO Sushil Kumar. In the preliminary investigation, at present, the allegation of offering Mosambi juice in the name of platelets could not be confirmed. However, when asked whether the samples of the alleged platelets donated to the patient were tested, he refused. In response to this question, he says that the investigation is going on.
