The drug, Nitrazepam, is used for the short term treatment of insomnia. The accused have linkages in other states, including Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and few other states. Rajesh, who owns a medical store in Pune, was responsible for its procurement while Swaraj B was given the task of peddling it in the city.

The NCB team after receiving a tip-off about the parcel containing the drug laid a trap and nabbed the accused from a courier firm’s office in the city. “Based on specific information gathered during the analysis, a parcel was intercepted at a courier centre in Pune, meant to be delivered to Sagar.
