Man Held With 30,000 Narcotic Pills In Ambala

AMBALA : The police arrested a man with 30,000 narcotic pills weighing about 11.28kg in Ambala City.

Ambala superintendent of police (SP) Jashandeep Singh Randhawa said that the arrested accused has been identified as Mangat Singh alias Manga of Durga Nagar. He said Mangat was held on May 26, and taken on three-day police remand from court on May 27. He said on completion of his police remand, he has been sent to judicial custody on Monday.

SP said during the investigation Mangat revealed that he procured the narcotic pills from supplier Surender Kumar alias Kaka of Mirapur Mohalla, Shahabad, who runs a medical store in a village of Kurukshetra district.

The SP said acting on the revelation, accused supplier Surender Kumar was also arrested on May 28. He said Surender was produced in the district court, which granted his one-day police remand.

As per the information, the police team of Chowki no. 4 in Ambala City has received the tip-off that Mangat smuggles narcotic pills in large quantities.

“A team was formed to nab the accused on the basis of information that he would be coming towards Ambala City. Accused Mangat was held during checking of suspect vehicles near Mangat Ram Ahata area of Ambala City, as 30,000 narcotic pills were recovered from him”, said SP Ambala.

He said a case was registered under relevant Sections of the NDPS Act at Ambala City police station on May 26 and the investigation is ongoing.
