UP: Health department seals two clinics in Shamli following newborn’s death

SHAMLI : In the wake of a newborn’s death, the health department in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli sealed two clinics in its crackdown against unqualified medical practitioners.
According to sources, Mohd Taiyyab, a resident of Bibipur Hatia village, sought medical assistance for his newborn at the Aayat Child Clinic in Kairana. There were allegations that an untrained doctor at the clinic was unable to address the infant’s breathing issues and referred the case to Panipat for specialized medical care.

It was alleged that the doctor offered an oxygen cylinder for a fee of Rs 900. Tragically, the oxygen supply ran out en route to Panipat and the newborn died. Both parties reached a settlement after the incident came to the attention of authorities.

Meanwhile, chief medical officer Sanjay Agrawal instructed Assistant chief medical officer (ACMO) Vinod Kumar to take action against the unqualified medical practitioner.

Dr Vinod Kumar inspected the Aayat Child Clinic on Saturday and scrutinized the clinic’s documents.

He demanded to see Dr Rashid Ali’s medical degree, but no degree was presented. As a result, the clinic was immediately sealed.

Dr Kumar also visited the Malik Child Care Centre in Kairana. Dr Junaid was unable to furnish a valid medical degree, resulting in the sealing of the centre.
