Sir Ganga Ram bats a Thousand by completing 100 Robotic Surgeries

picNew Delhi: Sir Ganga Ram Hospital’s Robotic Surgery Department has batted a thousand, achieving a great landmark by successfully completing 100 Robotic Surgeries. The number pulled off in bare six months makes this hospital a cut above the rest in Asia Pacific region for being fastest to reach this milestone. As this hospital does not rest on its laurels, the robotic department is poised to set many a new standards like this.
Hugo Robotic System is quite a new installation in the hospital. The speed highlights department’s versatility in handling a wide array of robotic surgeries across all medical specialties. Dr Ajay Sharma, Director of Robotic Surgery said, ‘we got the installation of this new system in April 2023 and within first 6 months we are able to cross the three figure mark.’

Dr Ajay Swaroop , Chairman , Managing Committee was visibly thrilled by the distinction achieved by the hospital in robotic surgery domain, saying, ‘ One of the distinguishing features of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital robotic surgery program is its cost-effectiveness compared to existing alternatives. Dr Vipin Tyagi , Coordinator, Robotic Surgery said, ‘ Patients undergoing robotic surgeries at the hospital benefit from  trifecta of precision, accuracy, and a minimally invasive approach. This results in reduced blood loss during procedures and contributes significantly to quicker patient recovery times. The department’s success is not only measured in numbers but also in the tangible impact on patients’ lives. We started doing Robotic Surgery about 10 years back as one of the pioneer in India and we keep improvising by adding a newer robotic platform this year and able to serve the patients with a more refined approach of surgery , making their surgical experience more better .
