Jaipur, 4 Jan 2024: The information of supplies made by Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) drug manufacturing companies established outside Rajasthan to the distributors of the state will be collected from drug controllers of the respective states.
If any difference is found in the quantity of supply, sale and stock, then action will be taken against all the parties concerned including the company. The stock of NDPS medicines should be limited on the lines of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
The health department took the decision to ensure that the NDPS drugs should not be used for addiction, and it should only be used for the treatment of mental health issues.
The health department is taking necessary steps to save the young generation of the state from drug addiction and to realise the resolve of drug-free Rajasthan.
A health department official said in the meeting of the concerned departments on Tuesday, directions have been issued to strictly stop the illegal trade of narcotics and psychotropic drugs influx in the state.
The police and drug control department officials should ensure strict action against illegal sale of NDPS medicines. Effective monitoring of the sale of NDPS medicines should be done by licenced wholesale and retail drug dealers. If any seller is found selling such medicines without a licence, then action should be taken against him under the sections of NDPS Act, said a health department official.
If any licenced medicine seller is found involved in illegal NDPS drug trade, then a letter should be written to the Rajasthan Pharmacy Council to cancel the licence and registration of that shop and the pharmacist working at the shop. The social justice and empowerment department should take action against unregistered de-addiction centres.
