Banned Cough Syrup Seized From Assam-Tripura Border

Assam: The Assam police authorities have seized approximately 1,600 bottles of the cough syrup, Phensedyl, on Friday morning.

The Karimganj border police team based at Churaibari manning the Assam-Tripura border seized approximately 1,600 bottles of Phensedyl on Friday.

A vehicle bearing the registration number NL 01 AC 0700 was intercepted at Churaibari check post. Updates stated that the authorities found 16 cartons of 1,600 bottles of the Codeine phosphate cough syrup, Phensedyl. The contraband is estimated to be worth more than INR 10 lakh.

One person identified as one Jayanta Deb from Tripura was detained in this connection. Further investigation is on in this matter, updates stated.
