The Jangareddygudem police in Eluru district arrested five individuals for allegedly selling Tramadol (a sedative) injections without a doctor’s prescription and seized about 880 vials of Tramadol.
Jangareddygudem Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) B. H. Venkateswarlu stated that, acting on a tip-off, the police raided a private medical agency located in the town and arrested its owner, Sai Kishore.
During the investigation, the police found that five medical shop owners, identified as Rajasekhar, Durga Prasad, Satish, Siva Krishna, and Chiranjeevi, procured their stocks from Sai Kishore and were selling the injections without prescriptions.
Cases have been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act, 1985, and other sections, the DSP told the media on Tuesday. “We are trying to find out from where and from whom the main accused procured the Tramadol stocks,” Mr. Venkateshwarlu told The Hindu.
