The mining company has put Rs 1 crore into the new subsidiary, which will make, assemble and distribute medical devices, surgical and diagnostic products and healthcare consumables.
Bengaluru: Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores, the flagship company of the Karnataka-based Sandur Group, has incorporated a wholly owned subsidiary named Royal Sandur MedTech to take up the manufacture of medical devices and healthcare consumables, according to Business Standard.
The certificate of incorporation for the new entity, a private limited company registered in India, was issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on 25 September 2026, and the parent informed the stock exchanges of the move on 26 September, The Free Press Journal reported separately, citing the company’s exchange filing.
The subsidiary’s stated business covers manufacturing, processing, assembling, marketing and distribution of medical devices, surgical products, diagnostic products and healthcare consumables, along with other related activities, Business Standard reported.
Sandur Manganese has acquired 10 lakh equity shares of the new company at a face value of Rs 10 each, amounting to an investment of Rs 1 crore. The parent holds a 100% stake in the subsidiary, according to the report.
The move takes the company into a sector well outside its existing line of work. Sandur Manganese is engaged in mining low-phosphorous manganese and iron ore in the Hosapete-Ballari region of Karnataka. The report did not specify which devices the subsidiary will make, where it will manufacture them or when operations are expected to begin.
The diversification follows a stronger quarter for the parent. For the first quarter of 2026-27, Sandur Manganese reported consolidated net profit of Rs 227.09 crore, an increase of 36.28% over the first quarter of 2025-26. Net sales for the period rose 21.09% to Rs 1,374.78 crore, the report said.
Shares of Sandur Manganese settled 0.84% higher at Rs 184.65 on the BSE, according to the report.
