Free heart transplant offered for a Pakistan hockey legend in India

Former hockey star Mansoor Ahmed from Pakistan was made an emotional plea to the Indian Government to grant him Visa for a heart transplant and Fortis Group of Hospitals has offered to register him for the Free heart transplant.

Indian Government accepted his plea and soon he could have an Indian heart beating inside him and Mansoor Ahmed is a sporting icon, Pakistan’s World Cup winning hockey goalkeeper and famous especially for his record against India.

Ahmed currently being treated in Karachi at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for complications stemming from a pacemaker and stents in the heart and Fortis offered him free of cost treatment at its hospitals in Mumbai and Chennai. Ahmed clearly stated that he was not seeking financial help but only looking for a visa on medical norms to get treated in India. His doctor, Choudhry Pervez advised him to get heart treatment in India as India has well qualified and experienced heart specialists.

Fortis(Mumbai) zonal director, Dr. S Narayani told reporters that once Ahmed gets government clearance then they conduct a medical assessment to check whether he is fit enough to travel.

V Baskaran, Former Indian Hockey captain said that government needed to act fast as his health sinking. Dr. Deepak Sawant, State health minister shared his views and told to reporters that cross-border strife doesn’t matter when it comes to saving lives and our country saved many foreigners and the patient himself wants to be treated in India, then there should be no problem.

Ahmed also told to media that he is receiving overwhelmed love from Indian citizens.

After Visa approval, there is still a difficult tunnel that Ahmed need to pass is a long wait as heart can be transplanted in foreign citizen only in the case if there are no Indians on the list. 4-6 month average time we can estimate to get heart donor for him In India.
