Malda : Border Security Force (BSF) jawans under South Bengal Frontier have seized 1296 bottles of Phensedyl from their area of responsibility on the Indo-Bangladesh border. The bottles were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl bottles is Rs.2,66,082/-.
On the night of 15th April, 2023, at about 2345 hrs, the troops of Border Out Post Peshbari, 70 Battalion observed suspicious movement of some smugglers near International Border.When the jawans started advancing towards the smugglers with the aim of thwarting the smuggling attempt, the smugglers fled from the spot taking advantage of the darkness and bushes. During an intensive search of the area, the jawans recovered 1296 bottles of Phensedyl from the spot.
The seized Phensedyl bottles were handed over to Police Station English Bazar for further legal action.
The Commanding Officer of 70 Battalion expressed his satisfaction over the achievement of the BSF jawans. He stated that the Border Security Force always maintains vigilance and adopts various operational measures to prevent smuggling along the border. Additionally, BSF has an excellent team that provides information related to smuggling and closely monitors criminal activities in the border area.
