Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini also set a 1 November deadline for opening Amrit Pharmacies in every government hospital in the state.
Chandigarh: Government hospitals in Haryana will be allowed to spend the money they receive for treating patients under the Ayushman Bharat and Chirayu schemes on special incentives for doctors and staff, upgradation, sanitation work and Ayushman Mitras, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced on Tuesday. The state government has approved a proposal submitted by the Health Department to this effect, according to The Tribune.
Saini made the announcement while chairing a review meeting with Health Department officials at the Haryana Civil Secretariat. He told officials that Amrit Pharmacies must be up and running in all government hospitals by 1 November.
Hospitals where the number of claims under the two schemes is below the average were asked to improve their functioning. The Chief Minister said the CM’s Good Governance Associates in each district would be given the task of monitoring hospitals and recommending improvements.
Saini also directed that more treatment packages under the Ayushman scheme be made available in government hospitals, so that free care can reach the largest possible number of patients. Treatment for diabetic retinopathy, a condition that damages the retina, will be included in the government hospital package and provided free in all state-run hospitals, he said.
On staffing, the Chief Minister ordered that vacancies for doctors, radiologists and cardiologists in government hospitals be filled immediately. He said specialists working in private hospitals or in private practice could also be engaged at government facilities, with payment made on a daily or per-operation basis.
Saini said he would personally review the progress of the district-level HIV task force every four months. He also took stock of targets fixed at the previous review, including the use of e-Upchar for patient relief, the working of de-addiction centres, special drives to register eligible beneficiaries under Ayushman and Chirayu, hospital cleanliness, regular reporting to monitor Ayushman claims and package-wise comparisons between private and government hospitals. He issued directions to officials on each of these points, the report said.
