As C- Word echoes Traumatic Personal loss, Neetu Chandra’s Passion and commitment transcend Borders

 

India/UK/ USA: After bolly flicks with A-lister action superstars like John Abraham, Akshaya Kumar, Randeep Hooda, making it to Hollywood and even sharing silver screen with titan Amitabh Bachhan, Taekwondo black belter versatile Neetu Chandra is battle ready for her final punch to achieve knockout against cancer which is assuming intimidating proportion all over the world.

The triumph that she is seeking now is very close to her heart as C- word echoes a traumatic loss of his father she adored and inherited qualities from. ‘Mem Saheb’ for her cricketer Papa, Neetu Chandra cannot stand the sight of someone chewing tobacco (khaini), his father unfortunately fell for. As her passion and commitment to light the path of cancer warriors transcend borders, she has emerged as a global cancer crusader. In her last month’s UK outing, Neetu Chandra cast an indelible imprint of her star power as brand Ambassador at Colorectal Congress at Portsmouth. She made her presence felt so powerfully on the stage that she was offered the ambassadorship for Bowel Cancer UK as well. Add to it, she being chosen as brand ambassador for Teen Cancer America.

The list of her health activism in India is very long. She has been associated with Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA) for over 12 years now. Her Hollywood action film ‘‘Never Back Down’ reflects her deep commitment as Cancer Campaigner when miss Chandra says in no uncertain terms, ‘she would never back down on her commitment as cancer activist.’

Miss Chandra was quite a presence in UK as cancer crusader where she delivered a powerful personal message to the 10th Portsmouth Colorectal Congress 2026 only last month, where she was invited as Guest of Honour. It was a gathering of more than 500 leading colorectal surgeons from across the globe; Chandra was officially announced as the new Brand Ambassador for Bowel Cancer UK too. The announcement highlights her growing commitment to cancer awareness on the international stage.

In her impassioned and inspiring address, the Bihar-born actress touched the cockles of many hearts sharing her remarkable journey from her roots in India to the neon lights of Hollywood. Her story resonated deeply with the medical audience, blending celebrity glamour with a heartfelt call to action on early detection of colorectal cancer. Chandra urged greater public acceptance of bowel cancer screening programmes, stressing their life-saving potential.

She was briefed on the particularly low uptake of screening tests within Asian communities in the UK. In response, the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI) — the country’s foremost body of colorectal specialists — has enlisted her support to help raise awareness and improve screening participation in these communities.

Chandra, who has previously served as Brand Ambassador for Teenage Cancer Trust USA and multiple cancer societies in India, spoke movingly about her personal motivation. “I lost my father to cancer and I can understand how deeply the family suffers,” she told delegates. Her appearance included short cinematic videos that brought energy and emotion to the scientific congress, drawing enthusiastic cheers and positive reactions from the surgeons. Chandra was not only showered with compliments, several European colorectal surgeons expressed interest in future collaborations with her on awareness initiatives.

The event also underscored the growing role of influential public figures in bridging the gap between medical expertise and public health outreach.Chandra’s involvement is expected to significantly boost visibility for bowel cancer screening, particularly in underserved communities. Miss Chandra’s global profile comes in handy in making her message powerful and highly impactful.

Her embellishments and persona fit the bill of an international icon in the arena of health and wellness activism. Besides sharing silver screen with Bollywood Titans including Amitabh Bachchan, she played the solo lead in 2 National award-winning films and has worked with 7 National Award-winning directors. Neetu has been an accomplished athlete since childhood specializing in Taekwondo and has represented India 3 times in taekwondo championships. She is now the brand ambassador for taekwondo in India. An avid basketball player, she has been promoting basketball in India NBA since 2010. She surely takes her fitness seriously.
