IBSC–AMTZ transforms Biomedical Future across India

With over 6,500 Trained, 3,500 Certified Professionals and 200 MoUs Institutions

Visakhapatnam/New Delhi, India: Indian healthcare sector has been facing human resource crunch to meet the growing demand. India medical device sector is projected to touch USD 50 billion by the year 2030, but the shortage of certified biomedical engineers continues to remain as a major challenge.  To bridge this gap, Indian Biomedical Skill Consortium (IBSC) at Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) has taken a leapfrog by providing training to 6,500 professionals in the specialized biomedical field.

Established by the AMTZ in collaboration with the Association of Indian Medical Device Manufacturers (AIMED), the IBSC is Regarded as country’s first dedicated council for biomedical engineers and provides global recognition that empowers professionals with the skill-based qualifications as per the international standards.

Since inception IBSC has certified more than 3,500 professionals under NSQF-aligned programs, trained over 6,500 candidates in the specialized biomedical field, facilitated over 10,000student visits to medical device manufacturing units for providing them with the practical exposure. The Consortium has so far signed more than 200 MoUs with leading universities across India and colleges for training, faculty development and industry immersion as well.

Dr. Jitendra Sharma, Executive Chairman of IBSC and MD & Founder CEO of AMTZ, said,“The launch of IBSC at AMTZ was a transformative moment for India’s biomedical workforce. Our main objective is to build not just skills but a well-recognized global career for biomedical engineers. With this initiative, India will strengthen its healthcare system while exporting talent worldwide at the same time.”

Located within the AMTZ, India’s 270-acre medical technology hub present in Visakhapatnam, IBSC also offers students unparallel access to modern facilities such as biomaterials testing, electromagnetic compatibility labs, 3D printing, lasers, MRI magnets, gamma irradiation, molding, and machining. This direct immersion also ensures a unique blend of classroom learning and practical training. Already proven track record of AMTZ including its contribution during the time of Covid 19 pandemic, with ventilators, oxygen concentrators RT-PCR kits, and mobile labs, that highlights the real-world relevance of IBSC programs.

Mr. Naresh Kumar Nitturi, National Coordinator, IBSC-AMTZ also emphasized that rapid evolution of healthcare technology requires continuous upskilling of workforce. “With rapid advancements in medical technology and growing demand for skilled professionals, IBSC-AMTZ is committed to bridging the gap between education and industry. Our goal is to equip biomedical engineers not just with theoretical knowledge but with verified skills and certifications recognized nationally and internationally,”added Mr. Nitturi.

The establishment of IBSC also signals decisive step in building a biomedical engineering workforce that is futuristic, globally recognized and deeply embedded in the advancement of Indian Healthcare.

The Indian Biomedical Skill Council (IBSC), established by AMTZ, AIMED, and NABCB under QCI, is India’s first certified authority dedicated to biomedical engineers. Its main objective is to strengthen the biomedical skill sector through the structured job roles, professional certifications, and international recognition. It is supported by strategic collaborations with the leading institutions and the AAMI (USA), IBSC empowers the biomedical engineers with the skills, credibility and global opportunities needed to thrive in the rapidly growing healthcare industry.
