Illegal drugs factory busted in Kashipur, 2 arrested

Rudrapur: An illegal medicine manufacturing unit in Kashipur was raided by the Udham Singh Nagar police and two people were arrested in connection with it. Those arrested are Arun Kumar from Shamli, currently residing in Haridwar, and Ravi Kant, who hails from Ganga Nahar in Haridwar.

SSP Manjunath TC said, “During the operation, machinery like strip-packing equipment, boxes and packets containing fraudulent medicines were seized.

The confiscated items included 140 boxes of Augmentin 625 Duo, 4,304 printed cartons of Telma Am Tablet, and 2,205 printed cartons of Telma H Tablet.”
The senior officer said that police, in collaboration with the drug inspector, successfully prevented the distribution of these fake medicines to Uttarakhand and other states.

The accused face charges under various IPC sections including, section 274 (adulteration of drugs) 275 (sale of adulterated drugs) and 420 (cheating), besides provisions under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
