Molbio Diagnostics shares rise 9% after Jefferies starts coverage with buy rating: report

The brokerage set a target price of Rs 1,600, implying an upside of about 27 per cent over the stock’s previous close of Rs 1,255.60.

New Delhi: Shares of Molbio Diagnostics rose as much as 9 per cent on the National Stock Exchange on Wednesday after Jefferies began coverage of the point-of-care diagnostics maker with a buy rating, Business Standard reported.

The stock touched an intraday high of Rs 1,369.20. By 9:40 am it had pared some of the gain and was trading 4.95 per cent higher at Rs 1,317.80, according to the report.

Jefferies described Molbio as an innovation-led medical technology company and has named it a high-conviction pick. The brokerage said the company has “successfully commercialized a differentiated Point-of-Care molecular diagnostics platform”, and has valued it at 40 times estimated earnings per share for the year ending September 2028, the report said.

Jefferies expects Molbio’s revenue to grow at a compound annual rate of 22 per cent between FY26 and FY29, with profit after tax rising at 47 per cent a year over the same period. It also projects EBITDA growth of 36 per cent a year and margin expansion of roughly 830 basis points, according to the report.

The brokerage identified three growth engines: further expansion of the company’s Truenat platform in India and overseas, a fast ramp-up of the Prorad portable X-ray range, and the commercial launch of Optrascan in the United States, the report said.

Molbio is a recent addition to the listed healthcare space. The company made its market debut on 17 August 2026 and currently trades about 70 per cent above its initial public offering price of Rs 807, according to Business Standard. Since listing, the stock has hit an all-time high of Rs 1,686.80 and a low of Rs 926.35, the report said.
