NATHEALTH resolves to evolve to fit The Bill of Viksit Bharat

Dr Sangita Reddy packs a punch as New President of Organization

New Delhi: 12th NATHEALTH Arogya Bharat Summit 2026 culminated as the exposition of roadmap of healthcare  commensurate with Viksit Bharat.  Dr Sangita Reddy, scion of Apollo hospitals’ Patriarch Dr C Prathap Reddy, anointed as its president on the occasion, is being looked at as a turning point of NATHEALTH, the apex industry body. Mrs (Dr) Reddy being in sync with PM Narendra Modi’s ambitious pitch for Viksit Bharat in 2047 and making India 5 trillion economy indeed packs a punch in the organization. She has been ‘dyed in wool’ and most visible supporter of PM Modi in healthcare domain. Ogrganization’s annual Arogya Bharat Summit on March 24-25 chose her as its 14th president.

In her speech as the new president of NATHEALTH (Healthcare Federation of India), Mrs (Dr) Reddy set the tone for the collective goal of healthy India and healthy life expectancy, saying in loud and clear terms that India cannot become ‘Viksit without being Healthy’, signaling the government that it must prioritize health to be able to realize the lofty goal of Viksit Bharat. The hope is this ‘dose’ of her should not be lost on powers- that-be. She advocated transformative agenda focused on preventive healthcare, digital innovation and population centric health policies and programs.

Presence of her father, 93 year old Dr Prathap C Reddy, founder and first president of NATHEALTH, embellished the occasion as epitome of healthy ageing well past the target of 70 as healthy life expectancy enunciated at the summit. The Apollo Patriarch was cynosure of all eyes out there. It turned out quite a touchy and emotional moment when a NATHEALTH member Dr Vinay Verma, Chief Business Officer of Anginax, a system to prevent heart related event angina, touched his feet.  Dr Prathap C Reddy commands quite a measure of respect in NATHEALTH fraternity and is looked at in the organization as grand father figure. His speech touched the chord in the summit. His indelible standing as inarguably the architect of modern Indian Healthcare makes him iconic in the company of who’s who of industry.

The elevation of Dr Snagita Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals Group, to presidentship of NATHEALTH may indeed prove a game changer as she is in a vantage position of being quite a voice in the corridors of power. In the desperate times of menacingly raging war, she might also prove a sheet anchor for corporate hospitals vis a vis central government.  As she steps in the shoes of her illustrious father, it is given that she will pull out all stops to make her term standout.

In her speech, which is always replete with lexicon of PM Mod’s visions, Dr (Mrs) Reddy said, ‘After this summit, the question is now evolved and changed i.e. that is that we do not only look at the patient  but also what can we do to keep our population healthy. Today after this summit, we have seen evolution of very important terminology and critical ideology, that is how we create healthy ageing and how do we create healthy life expectancy. It is currently estimated that our life expectancy is 61. Our collective target should be to make it 70 as a reflection of Healthy India and Viksit Bharat because we cannot become Viksit without being healthy

The concluding line of her speech that ‘we cannot be Viksit without being Healthy’ is a ‘dose’ for the government that health must be prioritized for the realization of goal of Viksit Bharat. NATHEALTH established in 2012 serves as a unified voice for private healthcare providers and is a profound impact on government’s health policies and programs.
