In a shocking incident in Gujarat, five pregnant women reportedly lost their memory after receiving injections from a blacklisted pharmaceutical company. The case of gross negligence occurred at Sanjay Gandhi Medical College in Rewa. According to reports, the women were administered a medicine that had already been banned and blacklisted. Following the injection, all five women began exhibiting symptoms of memory loss. An initial investigation suggests the injection was mistakenly issued by the hospital’s storekeeper.

What Happened At Sanjay Gandhi Medical College

At Sanjay Gandhi Medical College in Rewa, five pregnant women were administered an anesthesia injection manufactured by Gujarat-based Radiant Parenterals Limited. The company had already been blacklisted in December due to poor quality standards of its injections.

Banned Injection Issued By Storekeeper

The investigation revealed that hospital storekeeper Praveen Upadhyay mistakenly issued the banned injection, leading to his suspension. However, despite the gravity of the incident, no action was taken against other responsible officials. The probe also uncovered serious lapses in medicine storage—temperature was not properly monitored, inventory records were poorly maintained, and expired or substandard drugs were stored alongside approved ones.

The company has been debarred from undertaking any government contracts for five years and blacklisted for two years. Additionally, a fine of ₹3.01 lakh has been imposed on the company. The use of the injection produced by Radiant Parenterals Limited was banned.
