Sir Ganga Ram launches Campaign to teach Simple CPR to stop Sudden Cardiac Deaths

picNew Delhi: Reset the Beat – an initiative by Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in collaboration with Medtronic on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 was launched in the hospital. The aim is to train the masses in the cardiorespiratory resuscitation (CPR) technique to save lives of individuals collapsing due to Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) i.e. heart attack.

The event was inaugurated, by Dr. Ajay Swaroop, chairman of the Management Committee. The event was inaugurated, by Dr. Ajay Swaroop, Chairman of the Board of Management at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, and addressed by Mr. Debojyoti Banerjee, Marketing Director for India at Medtronic. Over the next three months, an additional 36 CPR training sessions will be conducted to encourage wider community participation. Additionally, conduct of six training sessions were announced for all medical, Paramedical and non medical staff as part of SGRH’s commitment to  medical excellence

It seems heart is under siege post Covid and people are dropping dead like nine pins, thanks to cardiac arrests precipitating unwarranted in old and young alike. This has caused quandary among people and cardiologists equally. But thankfully, there is a reason to take heart as well. The one easy- peasy technique called CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) which, if people all, equip themselves with, can save over 70 percent of them. Hence, ‘Reset the Beat’ CPR awareness campaign launched by Medtronic and Fortis Escorts Heart Institute  promise to go a long way in stemming fatal tide of sudden cardiac arrest in India.

CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is a technique so simple that you learn before you know it. But do you know, learning it gives you an opportunity to be savior for a song?  The motto of this nationwide campaign is save and be saved by sudden surge of cardiac arrest in the aftermath of Covid.
