4135 bottles Phensedyl seized from overturned oil tanker in East Jaintia Hills

A grand total of 4135 bottles of Phensedyl of 100 ml each were seized from an ill fated Oil tanker bearing registration number NL-01-AH-2246, three days after the said vehicle plunged into a deep gorge in National Highway 6 along Umtyra village, East Jaintia Hills District.

Police said the accident occurred on Friday morning and the driver tanker identified as Shakeep Sheik of Maharashtra was found trapped inside the cabin of the truck and seriously injured and shifted at Civil Hospital, Khliehriat for medical treatment.

Police said during preliminary enquiry, Sheikh claimed that the tanker was loaded with diesel and the documents of the vehicle were found from the cabin.

Police informed as per inquiry the Bharat Petroleum Transport Office, informed the said vehicle did not load fuel (diesel) from their refinery and no records of the vehicle were available at their office, thus raising suspicion.

Police said on Monday during checking of the tanker with the help of gas cutters the metal sheets of the tanker were removed from the hidden chamber and Phensedyl cough syrup bottles were recovered.

Police informed that case vide Khlíehriat PS Case No. 90(11)2023 u/s 279/337/338/427 IPC R/W Sec 22(c)/29 NDPS Act has been registered against Shiekh.
