434 Types Of Fake Medicines Worth Rs 4.5 Crore Found In Two Factories, Operation Lasted For 60 Hours

Agra:  The investigation into the fake medicines being manufactured in two illegal factories in Shastripuram, Sikandra has been completed. 434 types of medicines have been found. Their cost is around Rs 4.30 crore. In this operation which lasted for more than 60 hours, samples of 49 medicines have been taken. Samples will be tested in the laboratory. The medicines have been sealed in the factory itself.

Assistant Commissioner of Drugs, Atul Upadhyay, said that 434 types of medicines were found in both the factories in Shastripuram, which included antibiotics, deworming medicines, fever medicines, painkillers, injections and syrups. Their cost is estimated to be around Rs 4.30 crore. Samples of 25 types of medicines were taken from Ashwani Gupta’s factory.

234 types of medicines were found here and 25 samples were taken. 200 types of medicines were found in Saurabh Dubey’s factory. Samples of 24 types of medicines were taken from here. Both the factories, including the raw material, finished medicines, empty bottles, wrappers, machines and chemicals found here, have been sealed.

Officials from seven districts took action for 60 hours

It took more than 60 hours for the police and the drug department team to complete the action in two factories manufacturing fake medicines. The action continued from around 9 am on Tuesday to 9 pm on Thursday. Looking at the stock of medicines here, officials of the drug department from seven districts of Agra, Aligarh and Kanpur divisions were called. A report has been prepared by recording the batch number of all the medicines, the manufacturing company and other information.

Those who did the buying and selling through computer-records are also being investigated:

Assistant Commissioner of Drugs told that Ashwani Gupta and Saurabh Dubey’s illegal business of fake medicines extends upto Africa and Afghanistan. They also sell them in other states of the country including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab. Records and computers were also found from both the factories during the raid. They used to buy medicines and raw material from them and sell the medicines. They are also being investigated. The details of fake medicines are being sent to the concerned states so that samples can be taken from there too and tests can be done.
